Hi All,

I'm starting to find my way around our new van. Its a 2018 T6 Highline 150 LWB and is running 20 inch wheels. Its has rear seats, windows all-round and carpet lined etc. So not a heavy vehicle. It runs empty the majority of the time.

Its riding quite high and the the wheels don't sit right in the arches, so I'm thinking cobra 40mm lowering springs to make it sit right and help with body roll. Coilovers are not an option at the moment because of cost.

Weirdly though, the tyres appear to be chunky! and narrower compared to what's being discussed on the forum for 20 inch wheels. They are 235/50R20 104W Pirelli M+S tyres, i forget the name.

The thing is apart from a very high riding position and body roll, the van rides pretty good for 20 inch wheels over dodgy roads. I have no complaints on comfort at all.

I have a few questions, if anyone can help;
  1. I assume that cobra 40mm lowering springs would be ok? i appreciate the tyres are thicker, but i have a considerable gap above them.
  2. I plan to keep on using these tyres going forward, they don't seem that expensive to replace. Would moving to 255/265 and more low profile ruin the ride, i assume it will?
The van used to belong to an alloy wheel supplier and a delivery vehicle, so hence the alloys.

Ill try and get some pics up.

Thanks

I'd approach the suspension specialists on this forum before you spend any money.
There is a thread on those very springs

Personally I wouldn't go down just the spring route (I did and regretted it) but there's loads of people who have done just that and were happy at the outcome.

good advice thanks, have you heard anyone using these size tyres on a T6? iv searched and I seem to be alone, they appear to be used in SUVs?

Firstly I’d say those tyres are not suitable for your van…. they sound like they must be Pirelli Scorpion tyres more suited to a Range Rover or Land Rover. With that diameter of tyre they must be throwing your speedo out and affecting your gearing? Some pictures would be good/helpful?

Secondly I’d give the lowering springs a miss unless you’re going to upgrade to better shock absorbers too (speaking from experience).

Ill try an upload some pics below

They are stamped with JLR yes. load rating 900kg. My van is T6 LWB highline 150, running near empty most of the time. Pirelli Scorpio Zero All season. A pretty comfy ride for 20". and yes speedo is near 10% off.
