Hi All.

I’m after a little help with my T28.

How on earth do I know if the van is fitted with an Alarm/Immobiliser? When I lock the van I hear a double lock sound and that’s all.

There appears to be an LED on the door next to the locking button but it doesn’t flash.

Sorry if this has been asked before, just can’t locate an answer.

Thank you.

I had the same question:

By default they don't make a should when you lock. You just hear the deadbolts engaging.

If you are VIP member @Pauly can pull your build sheet to confirm a factory alarm was installed.

Many thanks for your help, I’ve just made myself a member. It was something I was going to do at some point, might as-well be now. All going well I can find out. Thanks again.
I have the same problem as you. Have no idea if it has an alarm that works. Did you get your problem resolved with a build sheet info?

Mine a 2018 highline and does exactly the same when locking as yours All I know is on 2 occasions I have locked the van on 1 click when I first had it the alarm went off firstly with pop top roof up
Secondly pop in petrol station locked dog in van and it went off so I assumed the alarm works as it should

Hi Tiggy, I removed the door panel on the drivers side and found the cable to the LED on the door was not attached. After connecting back up I’m allz good. If your van is a high line it will have the alarm. Hope this helps.

It's really frustrating @Bargy62 . My "alarm" beeps when I lock with the remote. It didn't initially but I set this option using Carista. Also when locked, the red light next to the door locker comes on for about 30 seconds. I've always assumed because of all of this that the van has an alarm. However, I have never once set the alarm off. I have been locked in the van and it did not go off. Having said all of that, there are no motion sensors on the A pillars so this could be a sign it does not have an alarm. I read somewhere (not sure if it was this forum or not) that if it's Highline then it has alarm - I'm not convinced. The only way to know for sure would be to make it go off and I can't get that to work.

Confused!

UPDATE

I have found the build codes on the sticker of the owner manual. I have checked these against the VAG codes list and also using an online checker. I have HIghline but none of my codes relate to an alarm.

Still Confused!

Put a fan heater in your van on an extension lead, lock the doors then plug in the extension cable. That will set the alarm off.

Hi, I was also wondering if mine really did have an alarm until recently, when I left my dog in the cab while I went into Tesco for a couple of minutes. As I came out of the shop the alarm set off as I was walking up the car park. Straight away I cancelled it on the fob. No idea what set it off unless Ron-the-dog saw me and started bouncing around . So I now know that the alarm is present but still haven’t got a clue as to what sets it off.

when we were away last time i tried locking mine sitting in the van with double click on key fob so no deadlocking first time i unlocked sliding door fine shut and tried second time and the alarm went off so why not try that also just remembered alarm goes off when the dashcam unsuctions it self in hot weather and just dangles by the wire

FINAL UPDATE.

I spoke to the salesman who sold me the van at the VW dealership. He confirmed that definitely the Highline models have a CAT 1 Immobiliser and Alarm. I've messed with the B pillar isolator switch but still cannot get the alarm to go off with movement inside the van.

On reading the owner manual again in more detail, the other way to set the alarm off is simply to unlock the door using the key in the lock (not the remote). This immediately set off the alarm!!!

So - yes I can confirm my T6 / T28 2019 Highline Panel Van is fitted a Thatcham Cat 1 Immobiliser and Alarm - sorry I doubted you @Whittle1000. Quite why the motion sensors (which are located in the overhead centre console apparently) are not working I don't know. Maybe they got disturbed or damaged when the conversion was done? That's a problem for another day but for now I'm a happy bunny. Thank you everyone for your replies.

Are they true motion sensors or are they glass break sensors? I've never checked.

if you activate the B pillar switch turns from red to yellow this disables the motion sensors
