Hi,

In the last 2 weeks I replaced my aging T5 with a 2020 T6 Kombi KR. This is one of only a few that come over with the factory California roof and seats.

When I got i home realised that the vanity mirror lights didn't come on when the mirror cover was slid over. Pulled the lights out and there is no power to them. Searched hi and low for where the fuse location is but not been able to locate it.

Any ideas?

Didnt know that was ever an option on any T6/6.1
Are you sure they are factory fitted ?
Are the wires connected inside the roof ?

Hi Pauly,

Not sure on the option front.
Can't say i know if fitted by the factory. All i can say was this van was one of a handful sent over from Germany with the factory fitted Cali roof and seats to test the market. The interior fitout was by Vanworkx. The lights are wired in the headlining but where they go to is a mystery.

I have those from factory in my 2018 velle, sold in Finland. Not sure if they were an option, standard with the trim level or part of some package.

How did you check for power?

Yours is T6.1 apparently, so might be different but in T6 mirror lights positive is connected to BCM interior lighting circuit and as such controlled by a timer. Negative from lamp goes to the switch in the sun visor and then to the ground. If you have a multimeter measure the voltage, from the lamp plug, against known good ground such as temporary wire from battery negative, right after opening a door to make sure timer is on. If you get 12V testing like that, check the sun visor plugs are connected. In order to do that you will need to remove the sun visor so could measure the switches for continuity as well on the same go.

n10n,

Thanks for that. Have checked with vanworx and the lights came factory fitted. Having read again what you said, didn't quite do that. Have continuity from the light plug to earth. No voltage to the plug live wire, with door just opened and ignition on (mirror cover is open and tried it open/closed/open). Need to ID the power source, fuse, then can check between there and lamp socket. Guess I'm going to have to get my hands on a factory manual.

I did find out what the little button did in the headlining console. lights up when the heater is on.
