I’m after a bit of your collective knowledge & experience to help me decide my options for electric hook up and operation.

I want to add electric hook up with connection under the bonnet with Rcd board wired to two 240v sockets behind the drivers seat . I can do this work as it’s nice and simple .

secondly- and this is where I could do with advice . I would love this hook up to be able to power my audio system and alpine drop down DVD player installed by the excellent @Absolut5. So when I’m plugged in at Campsite’s I can use the vans system . I’m not sure if this is possible?

Thirdly -would I be wise to add a leisure battery into the mix and battery charger and run van system through the leisure battery.
If so do you think it will fit under driver seat along with the amp . ( sub under passenger seat) would the leisure battery also run the sockets ?
I saw in @Deaky thread he has added two battery chargers one for leisure and one for starter . Could this be an option to run my system as is and charge the starter battery when required?

there are so many parts available I’m slightly confused what’s best .

thanks in advance

Hi, where did you locate the hook up (under the bonnet) any pics? Just about to install mine, thanks

I haven’t got round to mine yet. Lack of funds have stopped play at the minute. I believe there is room next to the starter battery .

Can I ask, from the CU do have 2 arctic cables (inside the black conduit) feeding into the van, one for each RCB (lights/sockets)? ta
No, I have no 240v inside the van. One cable goes to a small battery charger behind the starter battery and to other to a bigger leisure battery charger underneath the scuttle panel.

For 240v in the van, I'm just using an extension lead with sockets and protection built in. I don't plan to use it often. For cable routing, is there any reason that I can't just drop the cable through the gas drop out vent below the hob? The vent would obviously need to be removable - though does it actually need a grill?

You might get mice / rats crawl up without a grille?

I’ve just had my electrical hook up fitted, can I ask if this way of charging is correct?

That may work but I recommend you buy the proper EHU lead which will allow you to plug into the standard EHU posts in caravan parks. I’d also recommend a 25 metre one

That’s fine La dodgy Vita. I just wanted to get one to start the charge from home, any recommendation’s for purchasing one.

2.5mm core is best, especially on a long run.

Ie longer than 5m.

...

I'd only use a 1.5mm cable on very low wattage application. ,( Ie just a fridge and led lights, no kettles or heaters )
