240v Hook up plug location.

Evening all, just wanting a bit of advice regarding location of the 240 hook up socket our van..

All the camper electrics are done, just waiting for units fitting. The auto electrician has left the plug called up behind the panel underneath the tail light, so I can have a stealth door cover to mount the socket. Initially seems like a good idea, I've got a feeling when extension lead is plugged in and the door is open it could get knocked off or damaged.

Our previous camper had socket mounted underneath the back bumper which was convenient but used to get filthy and sometimes water would collect behind the plug..
Does anyone have suggestions? Is it possible for it to be mounted inside the van? I know some people mount them under the bonnet, but my electrics are now done and fully carpet lined so would be a hassle to move it.
Any ideas would be great!

I fitted the stealth door and moved my EHU connector from underneath. I’ve also used a smaller profile EHU connector.
I always connect my EHU when parked, and so it gets a lot of use, as well as at campsites, and still works well.

Mine lives under the hood. This is where the buider who did the conversion fits it as standard. No holes in the bodywork and invisible. The cable runs perfectly free through the small opening between the headlight and the bodywork with the hood closed.

thats going to be a pain if its windy or loads of flys or any other reason you would want to have the tailgate closed
That’s a concern. I didn’t really want it on the outside underneath the van again as they don’t last very well and get full of water. I don’t like the idea of cover panel with hinges.
