31103 - SCR NOx Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1 Catalyst 1

Hi folks,

Appreciate there’s quite a few posts on this already but was hoping for some advice.

Had this error appear the other week “31103 - SCR NOx Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1 Catalyst 1” whilst on the motorway on my 2018 T6. Didn’t notice any changes to how the van was running. Van is out of warranty.

I read up on the forum when I got home and checked it in Carista. My engine software version is 4047.

I rang around a few local garages and the VW Van Centre and they all insisted on diagnostics before they’d entertain upgrading the software. So I’d be in for £250-£300 to get it done.

Any advice on this would be appreciated, should I get the diag done, or does anyone know anywhere in the North West (Ideally Preston way) that would do just the engine software update?

99% sure software issue would solve.

Not sure if anyone other than VW would be able to upgrade.

I'd ring around a few van centres until you get a deal.

A bit further to travel than you'd probably like, but try reaching out to @Dav-Tec. If you haven't had it tuned you may be tempted to do do that whilst updating the software

Without plugging in there's know way to determine what software is the latest unless carista tells you what SW number the ECU is on.

It's not forced to fix the issue either but we have options. We can do the update we have lots of specialist software including Official access to VW ODIS
