Ablemail charger

Can someone help. VW T6 bought in March 2020 which had been privately converted. It has a solar panel and ablemail intelligent charger, which was bought in March 2019. It failed in March 2020 and ablemail replaced despite saying it had been tampered with by the seller- something he disputes. It failed again in October 2020, which has been confirmed after 2 independent assessments by VW garages. There is no charge coming from charger at all. Travelvolts who sold it initially have said the 2 year warranty is non-transferable, and! Ablemail have said they will not do anything unless I send it back, and I have lost faith in them as a company having said the previous one had been tempered with. Does an assessment by a qualified mechanic count as 'tampering?' I'd be grateful for any advice and realise this may be more a consumer question than technical. Thanks

got a few pics of the install?

Under EU law the guarantee would be 2years from initial purchase rather than one, but I'm not sure if that's still the case now the country is in Euro limbo.

Edit: Sorry just read it again and you weren't the original purchaser, so no it wouldn't be transferable.

I would send it back given they’re willing to look at it - all you’ve to lose is the postage. Unlike the last one, you’ve had this one since install so you know with 100% certainty that it’s not been tampered with.

It is a bit odd two have failed though. I assume you’ve checked the fuses and your solar panel is within spec?

Yes, the fuses were fine, and solar panel was ok having worked from when I bought the van until October. It is indeed a mystery. Thanks

Which Ablemail model is it ?
What model is your solar panel ?

To be fair to Ablemail, they do need to examine it before coming to a conclusion.
I assume Travelvolts is stating the warranty as defined by Ablemail.

As above, would be good to see pictures of the installation.

Pete

Thanks Pete. I'll put all the info on tomorrow. Travelvolts are saying they want to see the charger in situ which means driving 100 miles , which obviously isn't essential travel . I'm just really frustrated and surely any lifetime guarantee would be invalidated if a van is ever sold on. N
