ABS fault

Hi All,
Having an issue with ABS when ignition is turned on followed by front assist then stop start with engine start.

Vehicle is 2019 T6 102 2L TDI

Initially was just ABS fault that occurred last month when driving home on an extra wet day.

Checked error with diagnostics but not great results - see attached

Removed all 4 ABS sensors one at a time, cleaned them and measured resistance just to try work out if there was an issue. Suspected rear drivers as it measured open which I’ve now swapped but problem remains the same. Just tried firing up with the sensor disconnected and errors the same so possibly barking up the wrong tree.

If anyone could offer any suggestions before I book it into a garage that would be excellent.

Thanks in advance
Ash

What do you mean? The code points to Rear Right sensor or it's wiring being faulty? Or wheel bearing (as the ABS sensor ring is integrated into wheel bearing).

0088 - Rear Right Wheel Speed Sensor - Electrical Failure

Just tried firing up with the sensor disconnected and errors the same
The code 0088 when rear right sensor disconnected ???

@mmi sorry can you clarify?

On my diagnostics I only have what is attached. I couldn’t find an expanded error of 00088, where are you getting information about that being rear right?

When I measured the two pins on the sensors had following readings

Front driver 5.6M ohm
Front passenger 5M ohm
Rear passenger 4.8M ohm
Rear driver OL

As it measured open I just assumed it was this sensor. If your telling me 0088 is rear driver sensor I will explore the wiring further

The "Car Scanner" is just a generic tool and seems to pad the VAG specific ABS fault code wrongly with a leading zero.
The actual code most likely is 0088 (there is no such code as 00088 for VAG ABS).
According to VCDS diagnostic tool
0088 - Rear Right Wheel Speed Sensor - Electrical Failure,
e.g. a T6 in here
Also the already archived code 0095 points to rear right
0095 - Rear Right Wheel Speed Sensor - Signal Implausible

Then also archived
0128 - Function Restricted due to Insufficient Voltage
is probably not related to current issue.

Yes, the cuplrit is definitely there. And, please read the linked thread on VCDS forum.

@mmi hello mate, follow up from this post.

Ordered and fitted a replacement sensor and problem remained.

Looked deeper into it and didn’t have voltage on the plug. Removed rubber sleeve and insulation didn’t look great. Found copper had somehow split under the insulation.

Ordered a £10 connector from Amazon, bit of soldering and heatshrink. fitted the new sensor anyways, all working now. Cheers for the help.
