Acceleration sluggish

I have a T6.1 150. 22 plate. Purchased 3 weeks ago. 6,000 miles on the clock.

If I floor the accelerator, nothing seems to happen for a second or two..then the acceleration kicks in.
If I just progressively use the accelerator then floor it there's no problem..in fact , I'm really not sure if there is a problem or if this is normal as I had a Mazda CX5 with the same engine before and it used to do the same thing.
I'm just wondering if this is normal with these TDi engines..could be a problem if I had to accelerate rapidly ( flooring it ) as there would be no power revs for a couple of seconds.
So my question really is...is this normal?

Everybody has different views of what is "normal" in van performance.
Is your van's performance worse than when you bought it three weeks ago?

No it's the same performance as when I bought it 3 weeks ago.
It could be a fault or issue with your particular van or it could be a matter of expectations, it's a 2 tonne (or thereabouts) commercial vehicle when empty with a modest 150Hp engine, it's just not designed for fast starts.

Have you really floored it? There's a kickdown stop to negotiate, for some reason

Edit - if DSG

The pedal goes stiff near the bottom of its travel and needs an extra shove to get full throttle

I’m sure there’s a thread on here saying it’s the same for a manual gearbox (someone wanted to remove it)

Mine a 2019 199 Caravelle 4Motion. Not quite the same. It is quite rapid for what it is weight power etc I feel. However it has always felt slow from the point of lets go from the line say onto a large fast round a bout or pulling away from a junction with fast moving traffic. I have no problem q[with the actual acceleration once it cuts in in fact then it feels surprisingly rapid. It is from plant the accelerator and its wait for it, wait. for it, waittttt goooooo and it does depending on what one is trying to achieve the problem might then be tailoring the power to not overdoing it. I am used to it now, it has always been like that. I thought it had something to do with the 4Motion system Haldex ect as if it need to prime its self. In fact I thought that it was only 4Motion vehicles that exhibited this behaviour. It has been reported on by others and is not uncommon I understand. The other day I absolutely floored it down to the mettle and strangely it pulled away very smartly without needing to make its mind up so I will need to experiment more. As i have said it moves very smartly once going and flies.
