AdBlue - 450 Km left but still 39% of the tank

Hi,

I have a problem with AdBlue.

My Caravelle T6 2016 has a 13 liters AdBlue tank.

The dashboard is showing a range of 450 Km left (before to block the start), but it's showing that I can refill a maximum of 8.25 liters.
Normally I can refill a full 10 litres can with +/- 800Km left.
Now there is a "drift" on the computer.

More : If I check with my Android phone + an OBD Bluetooth dongle, I see that the AdBlue tank is still 39% filled.

I think I probably forgot to keep the dashboard activated the last time I refilled.

I remember the last refill, the distance range was 8500Km with 10 liters. I never had 8500Kms of range in the past (normally it's 4500 km).
Then everyday the range was going down by 1000 Km steps (and of course I was not driving a lot).

Do you know why ?
Do you know how to "reset" all of this ?

I hope my explanation is clear :|

Thank you.

8500km on a 10 litre top up sounds about right. I get a 5000-6000 mile range on a full tank (13litre). I’d be tempted to put 8 litres in, and see what happens.

I never had more than 6000 Km of range since de reprog/recall from VW after the pollution polemic/crisis.

But it's not the main problem.
I have only few Km left with many liters in the tank.

13 liters AdBlue tank.
it's showing that I can refill a maximum of 8.25 liters.
AdBlue tank is still 39% filled.
39% x 13 litres = 5.07 litres

Isn't 5.07 + 8.25 = 13.32 litres - close enough?

But it's not the main problem.
I have only few Km left with many liters in the tank.
But did you get the initial AdBlue warning at 2400 km remaining - so almost 2000 km ago?

I remember the last refill, the distance range was 8500Km with 10 liters. I never had 8500Kms of range in the past (normally it's 4500 km).
The remaining range is just an estimate based on recent AdBlue consumption. So if you were using AdBlue sparingly just before the refill, you'll get better initial range.

Then there is a "latching" point is at 2400 km remaining - below that the range counter ticks down at 1:1 rate with distance driven - so not any more based on current AdBlue consumption but on the consumption just before "latching".
I have only few Km left with many liters in the tank.
I believe the imbalance is because of the "latching" based on consumption before reaching the 2400 km range.

My proposal is to pour into tank 5 litres AdBlue to "restart" the range counter - although it would happily take the 10 litres, too. But as temperatures now can get below freezing point of AdBlue(-11 ℃) would be better to leave some space for expansion.

Anyways, below a couple of my somewhat related posts about AdBlue refills.
