Oh Tommy you unlucky chap

Tell me about it Nigel, the great God Caddy looked down on me with maxi and was trouble free. Just hope the great God Kombi looks down on this one and the love affair with the Kombi is a painless one from here on in :D and guess its catch 22 - didn't hit the body so lovely paint job is still ok

Hi all

Some further advice required please

The crack to the windscreen I received shortly after buying the van hasn't got any worse over the last year however I'm going to be selling the vehicle shortly so want to get it repaired. I've spoken to my insurer and a repair is going to be done this week (4 day turn around so really impressed) by Autoglass. I spoke to the lady handling the order, she took all the vehicle particulars and said they had one in stock, I reiterated that the window was a heated window factory fitted, she replied she had all that information on her computer screen along with it being a certain type of glass etc etc

Question I'd like to ask is should I be trusting them to deliver and fit the right unit or should I be checking double checking with say the engineer who will be coming to fit that everything is all good (reason being, when I initially made an enquiry to my local glacier it was £700+ but they couldn't source one and said they were difficult to obtain)

Thanks in advance
Tommy

Your selling........did the satnav per you off that much!

Hi Nigel

:D Also see you’ve been helping others out this last week. Think you should set up a YouTube blog as you’d make a fortune for your savnav knowledge and patience

Sadly selling as have a new partner and we bought a caravan together and looking at a pickup truck for towing duties

Hi Tommy

Yes I’d check that the kite mark on the glass is like for like.

Heated screens can be repaired some times to almost disappear but will depend on how much weather the crack has been exposed to as this affects clarity.

If screen gets replaced I’d give it a good look over down the A pillers outside and in as if the body gets scratched during removal and not cleaned up and re primed it will rust due to weather exposure.

I worked for auto glass for over 10 years as a technician and then build my my own windscreen company overall 20 years experience in the trade.

Joe

Thanks for heads up Joe, think I will try call local branch whom are coming out to repair Thursday to check details are correct and will certainly pay close detail attention to the fitting and potential scratches
