Aftermarket air con or try to Re-gas

After a week driving through France in some extremely hot weather I've realised the air con only blows warm air... any recommendations on after market air conditioning units to get some proper cool air or does the currently system need cleaning, recharging or fixing

Sounds like it needs fixing. Ours worked fine in 35°c plus temperatures.

Is this a gas recharge issue do you think as could really do with some chilled air for next trip
In my experience, it is rare for a total lack of cold air to be caused by a 'slight-loss-of-pressure' normally it's a total loss.

So no AC normally = no gas
And poor AC = lost a little bit of gas

As aforementioned, get it checked as no point putting more gas in if it's just going to hiss out over the next few minutes/hours/days/weeks!!!

Also, your van does actually have air con installed? Some UK variants didn't leave the factory with it (one of the only EU countries not to have it fitted by default someone told me the other day!)

“Now” or “No” ?

There isn’t a realistic aftermarket solution if you have no aircon already installed.

Can you post some photos of your heater controls on the dashboard ?

It is possible to retrofit aircon but is very expensive. I understand it to be in the region of £2000. Try Alpinair.co.uk as a starter.

Get it checked out as ours here in Spain cools the van even at 43C (the max so far here!!!!!!!) Re-Gas´d I would say.

I'm thinking that the OP's post #6 is supposed to say "There is no ac in my van"

In which case however much gas s/he has it isn't going to make a scrap of difference to a non-existent AC system!!!
