Amp's of 12v socket in new t6.1

Hi
I'm trying to find out the amp rating of the 12v sockets in my t6.1. Heard it was 20amps. Can anyone confirm.

Cheers

B

0-8A normal.

8-10A it will get Hot.!

Think it's fused at 15A (but will need to confirm that)

So kinda 90-100w max.

What you looking to run?

Or you blown a fuse?

The physical socket is rated at 20A, but the wiring and fuse is 15A.
As @Dellmassive says, these things are designed for a short duty cycle and not meant to draw max current for long periods.

it's for an ECOflow Delta 1300. The car charger they gave me melted, contacted support and they are asking what the amp's are on the socket. Apparently there are a few different fixes, if its 10-15 then there is a special cable, over 15 then its a firmware update which is a bit of a mare to do.

On my Ecoflow River Pro I set the car socket to 8A max draw.

Settings via the App.

FW update is easy.... Just connect to your WiFi.

You will be better of fitting a hardwired, fused XT90 or Anderson 50A connection to charge that unit.

Fed from the leisure battery. (Have you got a leisure battery?)

Agree with Dell above. You really don't want to be drawing more than 8A from a standard 12v "cigarette lighter" socket, and I wouldn't draw that for a long period of time.
The socket and plug get hot, and will melt, or worse.

Mine is the original one that does not have wireless. Maybe it’s easier to use an inverter to charge it. Need to figure a way of charging in my t6

If you use an inverter, you still have the problem of drawing high DC amps from somewhere, an inverter will just move the problem, not solve it. As already mentioned, I'd be getting an Anderson socket or similar correctly cabled & fused to supply the unit.

looking at this. . .

it shows 8A MAX for car charge . .

so are we saying you unit is pulling more that 8A - is it older FW that is drawing much more?

looks like APP is only availible on RIVER series,

and DELTA MAX & Pro.

it seems that,

that particular unit has to be sent back to ECOFLOW to have the FW updated.

UPDATE 10/22/21: EcoFlow has admitted that their cable is not good, well they didn't say that but they are sending me a newer, better one. Also, they are aware of the issue and have an upgrade for the firmware but I have to send it in (at their expense, at least). In the meantime, I had purchased a cable from Amazon, this one: "SinLoon 6.5ft Cigarette Lighter Male to XT60 Female,Cigarette Lighter Cable,for Car Inverter Tire Inflator Air Pump.(Female)" and I have tried it out and so far so good, the unit is charging at 7.5 amps. Their customer service person who called me in response to my request for help told me to get a regulator from Amazon. The firmware is going to reduce the input to 8A which is going to solve the issue but is disappointing because I'd rather it could accept more amps not less. What a fiasco.

so id still say easiest option is just to install a hardwired feed using fused XT60 - XT90 connector. . .

looks like the unit has XT60 as its input anyway . .

...

to make up your own 20A car charge cable . . .

get some XT60 connectors. ( they 30A rated)

1649181712650.png

+++++++++

get some (2.5mm2) twin core cable . . .

1649181946125.png

++++++++++++

get a 20A MAXI Blade fuse. . .

1649182583168.png

+++++++++++++

and MAXI Blade fuse holder.

1649182604427.png

+++

then connect to your leisure battery. ( or starter ) POS side.

++++

and connect to a Chassis ground

+++++

or go BEEFCAKE

and go 50A Anderson connector to you van battery.

then a short Anderson to XT60 patch cable.

++++++++++

get some 50A Andersons. . .

1649182911233.png

get some 6mm2 50A twin . . .

1649183076324.png

+++++++

get some 50A MIDI fuses and holders . . .

1649183163170.png

and again . . . direc to battery POS.

and chassis ground.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

then make short Anderson to XT60 link cable to plug into unit.
