Anker 521 Power Station. Any good?

Some of you guys seem to know a lot about these, so I was wondering what you thought about the spec of this and the pricing?

Looking for something for day trips or the occasional overnight stay to charge a couple of phones and tablets.

Very limited spec data from that link but this looks like it is pretty good unit for very light use.

Just be aware that this is only 256Wh. - To put this into perspective, an Ecoflow River Pro will deliver 720Wh and I'm guessing the Anker product won't deliver anything like the two 660w 230V AC outlets which the Ecoflow can.

That said, Anker Technology stuff is generally excellent and I note that the charging looks really fast, which is a major consideration for many.

I massively rate the Ecoflow products over and above all other stuff that I've seen, but this Anker product may be worth a punt if you only need 256Wh and only want to run very low power kit from the AC outlet got short periods.

The cost of £249 from Anker makes the unit a shade under £0.97 per Wh, which is the exact same as the Ecoflow River Pro. (720Wh at £699 RRP also works out at £0.97 per Wh)

Hope that helps.

looks like its on pre-order.

so no testing available yet.

but . . . Anker have had some of these units out over in USA for a while now. . .

but all 120v and no Air Freight etc . . . so no grey imports.

++++

so now we get a UK version . . . .

++++

whats standing out to me is that Anker are not giving out info on the CELL type, or recharge cycle life?

example . . .

the 533 . . . . Anker 533 Portable Power Station (PoweHouse 389Wh)

....

but . . . i do have lots of anker power banks and 12v chargers ,

they have all been good.

so hopefully these will be too.

Thanks for all the replies.

I have quite a few Anker power banks and chargers, so I do think their stuff is pretty good myself, but some reassurance is always nice.

I have now ordered my £1 coupon that saves me £50 off the unit upon release on the 25th of this month. It's a strange process as now I have to wait for them to email me with my "opportunity to purchase" link to actually allow me to purchase the unit.

Let's see what happens from here...

I have the powerhouse 2 and been using it since Last June - been very pleased with it - it’s as well made as other Anker products - it’s regularly on offer for £300 on Amazon

Battery lasts ages on it and stays fully charged for months without use

anyone had an update . . . .?

3weeks ago now.

I got an email from them on the launch day with a code to use at either Amazon or on their own website.

Received it the following day (I ordered early in the day), charged it up, tested it worked and it's now in the back of the van.

Have they not sent you any emails since you bought the saving code?

No haven't heard back.

Was the voucher £50 off?

What unit did you get and how much was it?

I got the 521 for £249 on Amazon using the £50 saving code that they sent me. For the life of me I cannot find the email that they sent me with the code and the more I think about it, I might have received the code as a text message. Not 100% on this though.

Nice .. I sent them an email.

It's listed as £299 -6%

I'll see what they reply with.

What would I need in order to charge one of these Anker 521 Power Stations from within the van? Can I do so via the cigarette lighter in the cab? Or somehow via solar panel if I go that route in the future?

(I’m currently an electrical newb, which is why this is appealing to me in the first place - I have no electrics in my van other than what comes as standard on a T6 Startline).

Ah, looking at the shape of it @Dellmassive, I think your info above might have been for the older Anker 533 rather than the 521.

However, I found the manual for the 521 and it’s similar.

I’ve just won a Jackery 1000 watt explorer on EBay brand new for £580.
I’ve gone for this size as I use a CPAP machine at night because I have sleep apnea, I have also fitted twin 110 gel leisure batteries with Sterling 30 amp B to B but I don’t have hook up fitted. I also use a 100 watt folding Dokio solar panel.
We also use an outwell 35 litre cool box so hopefully now we should be ok for power when camped up.
John.

Whilst continuing my research about the Anker 521, I found useful information in this thread regarding charging the unit from solar panels (some things to be aware of with regards to connector type/size):
