Any one have a RIB bed? Headrest question

Hi everyone,

I'm currently trying to decide between a RIB bed and a standard rock and roll type bed. A big factor is that I'm tall (6' 4"), the kids will be one day, and I'd like a seat that gives good neck support if there was an accident.

Would anyone with a RIB bed be so kind as to measure the distance from a fully extended headset to the bottom of the seat. Unfortunatley it's not on their spec sheet.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you! That's a really good height, seems like it would support tall people.

I guess I'm finding the extra £1k for a RIB :)
If you're 6ft 4, you may find the RIB sits you too far above the floor so your head hits the ceiling ( depending on what mods you have done to the ceiling eg pop-top)

Thanks. I actually rented a campervan with a RIB bed a couple of years ago. I could get myself in the back ok, but I didn't try pulling up the heatrests though as I was driving.

The space you get under a RIB bed seemed a good feature.

My RIB bed in the rear would not accommodate a 6ft 4 rear passenger you would bang your head on the upper bed when down.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Could anyone measure from the top of their RIB seat to their roof (when down), along the angle of the seat? I'll check if it'd accomodate me.

We are installing a pop top, and I don't plan to be in the back much when it's not popped, so as long as I can squeeze in I'm ok.

@nickhod I have just measured my bed which is a rib altair 112
From floor to top of seat cushion 550mm
Top of seat front with bed board 840mm
Without to poptop 910mm
Back of seat cushion to bed 890mm
To underside of poptop 970mm
Hope this makes sense

EDIT the bed is fixed not sliding

These measurements were for someone else and vertically measured they may also help.

The measurements your after, following the angle of the seat on mine which is rib bed and reimo poptop
from seat to underside of bed board 920mm
from seat to poptop underside 1000mm
bear in mind the seat will squidge down a bit
and not all 6ft4 people have the same length backs and legs

Thank you so much, that's really helpful.

Top of a seat to the top of my head is 90cm, which explains how I remember squeezing into a RIB seat previously. 92cm would be ok. As you say, it would squash down anyway.

Now to figure out if my 5' 4" wife's feet would touch the floor :)

I have just removed our fixed 112cm RIB from our van, complete with underfloor fixing kit. However, it is custom upholstered and I'm going to look to sell it with the matching front double bench that has the reclined folding bracket and a swivel base, plus the upholstery from the driver's seat for a full matching set. I have to sort out the photos and then it will be going in the for sale section. The SWB kitchen unit will be on there too, almost a full conversion!

I would like to say that, I really admire your efforts towards the future safety for your growing family, very admirable and very good luck with finding the most satisfactory result. Spinal injury can be absolutely devastating and final.
