Anybody opt for a different sliding door step?

It feels as though mine is right at the limit after dodo duo and 12mm ply has done down. Wondering if people just left it as is or they did anything different with the door step?

I used 9mm ply for that very reason.

There are 3 different depth of step available from VW. Standard, Kombi and Caravelle
