Anyone know this van

It's got a 6.1 front end. Unless it's a cherished transfer, a 19 plate would be a T6.
Is there an issue ?

It's a t6 with facelift front ,the dash is t6 ,their is no issue my mate was interested in it who doesn't know anything about vans and would have quite happily bought it as it was a good price ,but alarm bells ring with it being listed as t6.1 not t6 with facelift

I would never buy a van that’s been messed with. It’s bad enough buying a 2nd hand van privately, but the added “fiddle factor” would be a no-no for me. The owner has probably spent thousands making it look like that, but in my eyes, it’s now worth less that the original van was before the plastic surgery.
Caveat Emptor

For me it's an 'inbetweeny' now , neither one or the other .
On older vans I can see this adding appeal and not knocking the resale too much but newer stuff it just doesn't quite make the same sense to me .

Listing it as a T6.1 (and not a face lift)

Is rumbling my belly as a guy that wants to cash in on some unsuspecting buyer who knows no better and is assuming they are buying a T6.1.

There is a big difference mechanically on the T6.1

.

I’d ask them straight what model is it (not just 6 or 6.1 but engine, spec, mods etc). And also ask about the history. It’s possible the seller knows no different and bought it believing it is a 6.1. If it’s priced correctly (as a T6!) and has suitable history etc then the mods are a non issue if done well. Look how many on here have done mods to the van!!

… then the mods are a non issue if done well. Look how many on here have done mods to the van!!
And there’s the rub. What are the mods hiding? I’d put good money on, that the mods are a Saturday morning on the drive job with the Clarke pop riveter & a tub of Isopon. There are very few “mods” that actually add value to a van, any marginal increase in value certainly won’t cover the cost of the bolt on bling. By “modding” a van, you’re limiting the potential purchaser pool to people who want a van that’s been “modded” to your taste. I agree, there are many on here who mod their vans, and personally I think many of them have rendered the vans virtually unusable, a speed hump or decent pothole and either the van is off the road, or the passengers are at the chiropractors, but hey! They look cool in the eyes of the beholder.
Just my 2 penneth.

Air suspension would be a case of limiting the resale potential of a van but also a case of taking a blobby van and turning it into a wicked whip innit?
If the wife would let me I would join Lowdown Transporters at Busfest in an heartbeat. :geek:

The front end change is just a few screws and clips and very easy to do. The lights need adaptors for the loom and a simple code change to keep dipped on with main beam (as the H7s on a T6). All easily done on the drive. My main worry is, as you say, is it hiding anything? Was it done because of crash damage or just for vanity? There should be plenty of clues under the bonnet.

The roof bars and side steps are simple bolt on mods that can easily be removed if not liked. And the wheels could easily be swapped too. I’d want to know what’s been done to the suspension, if anything, and see receipts etc. Difficult to tell if it’s had any other mods.

I agree that many mods don’t (and shouldn’t) add value and it amazes me how much people spend on bling or changes to their vans. In many cases it would have been easier and cheaper to just buy a higher spec or newer model! But as you say each to their own and many enjoy the tweaking regardless of cost.

In many ways it’s no different to camper conversions. What works for one may put off other buyers and limit the market. I wanted a sliding rear seat/bed and didn’t even look at vans that didn’t have one.

Personally I wouldn’t dismiss the van but would certainly go in eyes wide open and ask lots of searching questions. And then walk away if there is any doubt.

Have read the number plate as GM19RGX and the DVLA have it a white 2019 T28 2.0 ltr petrol. Taxed to May 2025 and MOT to 9 October 2025 with 26,735 miles at the last MOT

last letter is T, penultimate possibly E or S, doesn't look like standard font. Might not be an R even - possibly an A

First Mot august 2023, next august 2024 and only 700 miles between them. That’s not many miles in a year. If it was first registered in August 2020 maybe but otherwise is it also sat around for a year with no mot. First registered 26 June 2019
