I am may be looking at buying a T6 Kombi that has the double front passenger bench seat. Ideally I wanted a single passenger seat but can't find any other van that fits my budget and all my other requirements.
Has anyone done this, I'm assuming it will be relatively easy to do, any recommendations for suppliers of seats too would be much appreciated!
Cheers

I looked into this and in the end I found a kombi with a single passenger seat.
I got quotes to have this done and it was looking around £800 or maybe more depending on the exact cost of the bits. This was going with a used seat as a new one is a lot more than this.

Thanks Chopman, looks a bit eye watering!!

Yeah - that's what I thought.
You may get that down if you can do the work yourself - but even buying a used T5 seat and base off eBay looks like £500+

Looks like the Mrs is going make do and share the bench seat with the hound at that price!

Sounds like you are going through what I went through.
Obviously you need to make your own decision, but I decided to bite the bullet and get a single front seat as they are supposed to be more comfortable and we plan to do some touring so I didn't want to have Mrs Chopman uncomfortable in case it put her off.
Also, the single front gives much easier access to the back by going through the gap and it also swivels a lot easier.

Yeah, I'm struggling with finding the right van with the funds I have available at the moment. Its a toss up as to hold off, save up and get the exact van or bite the bullet and compromise!
I'm getting close to biting the bullet as I don't want to miss the summer and I've already missed a couple of decent options wondering whether to compromise or not.

Some people want the opposite and swap single to double so you may find someone up for a trade, it's a job you can tackle yourself if you have the time and appropriate tools/spanners etc but be aware you will leave holes in the floor changing to smaller seat

I paid extra for the double front seat with the fold down 'storage', the missus wanted an extra seat. I like the double, loads of storage under there, really quick to access and great for stashing stuff out of view. The seat also folds flat, so we have used it as a baby changing table whilst sitting in the second row. Not as comfortable as a single, but who cares, I'm in the drivers seat.

I was in the same position wasn't buying brand new couldn't get the exact spec I wanted so compromised on the front seat I converted the double front seat to a single I got a seat off eBay from Poland was in as new condition and also managed to get a seat base in new condition cost me £900 all in resold the double seat for £150 so £750 no more moaning from the missus worth every penny! Very easy to swap took about 20mins the two holes that were left In the rubber floor mat between the seats I found 30mm rubber electrical blanking grommets are a perfect fit or you could just get a Mat that covers it.

if its of any use, it is really simple to change, I swapped my seats for a pair of caravelle leather singles, the only downside is (as has been mentioned) its not cheap buying T5/T6 seats :-(

Thanks for the responses. I've bitten the bullet and put a deposit down today, so here goes..
@Pauly Just have to find someone that wants the bench seat. @Coradia63 Thanks for the advice I'll have to keep my eyes on ebay, was it a private sale from Poland or a company selling seats?
@C5 VWT The other option was to pay more for the van, I'll live with the bench seat for now and start hunting for a deal on a single passenger seat.
Thanks for all the help, much appreciated

Hi
I would be interested in your bench seat !

Hi
Yes I'm keen for a double seat for T6
Hi @Christopher Davidson I haven't taken delivery yet hopefully I should be getting it towards the end of the week.
However the Mrs is now singing the praises of having 6 seats:confused::confused:. She is the one who's going to have to sit on it I guess!
I still think we will change it for a single. I will keep in touch.
Cheers
