Not sure but is app connect and mirror link the same, if so then amazon are selling the code.

Yes they are basically the same, app connect = apple device & mirror link = android

The code isn't the issue its what to do with it

Most of these code based upgrades (map upgrades on a Touareg media unit for example) require the code entering by the dealer using their VAS system as it connects to the mothership and compares things like vin radio security code and that the activation code is valid.

It is only just now after 6 years of the RNS850 Touareg being out that Russian hackers have got around the codes withs hacks of the firmware. I never wanted to risk bricking my unit so never bothered.
