Basic New Owner Questions!

Hi all...finally managed to find the van we wanted - it's taken a year because we were v.fussy (given the spend) and a bit of real life got in the way! It's a 17 plate with 6 seat config (we might swap to 7 one day). It has a couple of little bits for the dealers to sort so collecting in a couple of weeks

Just have a few quick questions to get me going..

1. How do i know what Thule feet to buy?
2. Carpets...i guess a 1+1 / 'walkthrough' is the right ones?
3. Wind deflectors...are they worth it and which ones to get?
4. What other fun things should i buy?

Hello mark Dendise1978, welcome to the T6 Forum.

Evening,

Footpacks - there will be a search function somewhere online, possibly Thule.com or possibly a third party parts store - try Halfords as a starting point. They'll probably work off your registration number.
Wind Deflectors - I love them. I had aftermarkets ones on the last two previous cars, they came as standard on our Kombi and I wouldn't be without. Cuts down on noise, draughts and water ingress. We have dogs and they are excellent at getting air in and keeping water out. They also offer a bit more security when you crack the windows open.
Essentials - the little rubber strip that stops coins., pens, wedding rings etc sliding off the front of the dash and almost of of sight, but definitely out of reach at the bottom of the windscreen. Yes expensive for a long thin lump of rubber, but invaluable in terms of time and frustration!

Enjoy the Forum, it's invaluable for advice

Climair wind deflectors - definitely worth it if you ever drive with the window open. Can't answer your other q's/.

Thanks for all your replies...glad to be part of the group.

Already pretending to listen to a work call while searching for wind deflectors and expensive rubber strips to catch coins. I did buy one vey boring thing yesterday - a Milenco Steering Lock. Definitely dull

I would personally recommend a disklock (size S) as the rascals can cut a steering wheel to get a bar lock off. Disklocks are a common and recurring recommendation on the forum

I did wonder about that - I was thinking of getting a disklock for overnight or if we go away without the van

The disklock was the first thing I bought, then ghost a week or so later. A bar lock would have been my preference to store but there's so many stories of the crooks chopping the steering wheel with bar locks.

I always worry when I come to the van that there'll be a load of dents and scratches and blood and hair on my disklock hehe

If you have seat hooks you can hang it on the back of the passenger bench seat, or on the floor, it will also slot into the door pocket but it can foul the plastic a little. I normally go seat hooks or floor

Ooh seat hooks...something else to buy!

How have you found Ghost? I always worry about the reliability of immobilisers - bad experience with one on my old MR2

I haven't had any issues with ghost as such. Occasionally it doesn't unlock on the first go and I'm left having to fiddle with it. I still need to program my own unlock code also hehe

Wind deflectors 100% worth it, you can leave the windows open to allow a bit of airflow at day and night even when it's raining outside. I've got Heko ones, tried Climair but reverted back to Heko

you need to post a pic of the MR2. You can't just leave a comment like that with no visual proof of classic vehicle hehe

As above… the Ghost 2 is a great immobiliser and the first thing I put on my van, had them on all my previous cars and never had any issues. Highly recommend.
