Does any have any recommendations for a good addditive I can use? Preferably one that isn’t difficult and readily accessible

Cheers

I swear by either of these two -

Less regens, never get any dpf issues, makes the engine run smoother and generally seems to make a positive improvement all round.

Im a fan of millers ecomax diesel. I buy it in 5L bulk. In my head it turns normal fuel into premium for a not so premium price. At approx £1 a tank if it helps the engine and exhaust in the long run then worth it in my opinion.

Usually buy it from opie oils.

David, how do you measure/apply dosage for this product? Do they supply a small measuring container and do you need a funnel to get it into the tank?

Don’t know about best one but my poison has been Redline RL-2, I use it continuously with a hope of keeping injectors clean.

For dosaging I’ve found chainsaw oil mixer https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stihl-STIHL-Mixing-Bottle/dp/B01M3TBEON to be pretty good, although it looks quite like a piss bottle. The bottle is 1L, I premix it for 5 fillups so on each fill I can just pour roughly 2dL into the tank. Redline is very syrupy and gets everywhere, mixing it directly gets very messy and due to concentration direct dosaging is difficult. Stihl bottle travels coveniently on door card pocket, it’s not beautiful but gets the job done pretty cleanly.

Any kind of funnel is kind of a no-no, the funnel will just smell in the van and contaminate everything. At least you would need a closed container to store the funnel in and still your fingers would smell of diesel after every fillup.

You can pour directly into the tank from the Stihl bottle I mentioned above, but only just, could definitely be better with a longer and thinner neck. Due to this also pouring very exact amounts is tricky - therefore have to keep premixed concentration such that it doesn’t matter much if you over/under pour a bit.

The millers 500ml bottle is designed so you squeeze the bottle and it dispenses the measured amount of your choosing into the top of the bottle. You then just pour that amount into your tank.
Same with the hydra.
I think the Hydra 5L comes with a dosing bottle.
Buy the 500ml Millers and keep the bottle and refill if you choose to buy the 5L subsequently.

I thought about reusing a millers 500ml bottle but I don't think you can re-fill it due to the dosing mechanism, i.e it has a separate mini dosing container as part of the bottle so you squeeze it to put to dose in the mini compartment then when you tip it into the fuel tank and only the dose goes in not the whole bottle.

The the dosing bottle I bought it works the same way with a dosing section, however it has a valve mechanism in it so you can refill the whole bottle. Works a treat so there is no vauge guessing at the pump or risk of adding too much! I normally put it in then add the diesel so the addition of the fuel mixes it.

Took me a while to find the bottle online but works well! I looked the Stihl one but wasn't sure if when you tipped it up there was a risk of pouring the whole lot in. @n10n could confirm? as lets be honest the Stihl one looks cooler...

Millers here too…. I’ve been using it in my T6 since I got it almost five years ago…. before that I used it in a 2007 Ford Ranger pickup that never failed an emissions test and ran as sweet as a nut!

You are not wrong, it’s easy to pour too much as Stihl is not a dosing bottle as such. RL-2 I’m using has rather liberal dosing instructions though: one 15oz bottle treats 300 gallons in regular maintenance or 100 gallons in strong cleaning so I can’t imagine an occasional overpour having too much effect on anything.

So, I premix little bit over 1dL of RL-2 to 9dL of diesel in the Stihl bottle. Then I aim to put 2dL of the premix into tank before filling, I usually fill about 57-60L. This way premixed Stihl bottle lasts 5 fills (reasonable range) before I have to prepare another premix.

And I can assure you Stihl does not look that cool filled halfway with diesel ;)

if its anything like millers in a white semi translucent bottle it looks like someone was caught short! I have written on the bottle in sharpie just to clarify...

Hello, is there anyone who has had experience with the SYPRIN diesel injector and system cleaner ?

I have a bottle of this additive but I'm little worried in case I'll damage the injector system.

Unfortunately I had several problems with those components in the past...
