Bleeding the coolant system

I was wondering if anyone on here had successfully replaced coolant and bled the cooling system and if so how they went about that.

I changed my water pump this weekend and am ready to top up and refill but had a couple of questions.

Can it be bled the conventional way? As in top up cap off heaters on and run for a bit then re top up?

Can it be bled only using a vacuum bleeder?

From what I can see it’s a vacuum bleeding job. Is it necessary to use vcds as well, If so what procedure did people use in vcds

I found this procedure on the Ross tech forum, if you have used vcds is the transporter the same? I assume it’s vaccum
Bleed first, top up and do the below?

Thanks Kev, have you done an euro 6 one that way. If conventional works would vacuum be belt and braces and I have access to one?

Thanks
Aaron

Yeah, my own van is euro 6 and done coolant on it and plenty done the conventional way weekly at my work.

Ah ok that’s perfect, I have vcds so will give that a try and if not go back to the tried and tested method. Do you vacuum bleed first or just top up and then let it run with the cap off?

No vacuum used, just run up to temperature keeping eye on level. Pop cap on and road test. Return and remove cap and allow to cool. Top up and another run up to temperature and leave cap off overnight to allow any air out. Top up as required, job done.
