Blower/Heater, whats it doing when in reverse??

When ever i have the heater/blower on and i select reverse it seams to direct all the blown air to somewhere else, It sounds as if it is directing it to one vent but i cant tell what it is doing, then when i go to drive all goes back to normal, anybody else do the same??

It goes into recirculation mode to stop exhaust fumes being drawn in.
