Brembo GT T6.1 Big Brake Kit - anyone bought one of these yet ?

Hey T6 Forum,
I have a Transporter and i want to upgrade the front brake system to something much bigger than the stock OEM brakes, more so since i have upgraded the wheels to 20" and the OEM brakes look completely lost and TBH, completely naff against the wheels.

I went to Goodwood this year and Brembo were offering this newly released big brake kit for the T5,T6 and 6.1, which looks amazing, with some nice caliper colour options and two disc options too, drilled or grooved. The grooved option looks particularly good IMO.

I have received these graphic's of the kit from Brembo, which i have attached and I've been advised to speak to one of their UK dealers to buy the kit. (Darkside Developments, and www.brakingupgrade.co.uk) both suggested dealers. I know neither of them........

Brembo have said that the kit apparently comes from the Brembo Racing division in Italy and is completely different in design to anything that Brembo provides as an OEM part.

It is on the upper end of my budget, but then it is Brembo and id much prefer to fit Brembo than any other brands i have seen.

So, sorry for the long post but before i delve into buying this kit, i wanted to ask if anyone on this forum had fitted one already and what their review of it is ?

Thanks in advance

Not personally but for half the price I would at least consider the Nutexa Frictions big brake upgrade, @Nutexa Frictions have supplied numerous members on here who have posted good reviews (do a search).

I would give the guys at VAGBREMTECHNIC a call (part of the AWESOME group).
They sell stuff from Brembo (the Aston Martin ones), AP Racing as well as the Porsche kit above.

Big Brake Kit specifically designed for the T6, 375mm two piece discs with 8 pot calipers all UK made with our in house designed ECE registered low dust pads, we’ve been making commercial brake frictions since the 1960’s and now on 2nd generation family ownership. Our TRIED & TESTED products are used worldwide on some of the biggest bus companies and haulage firms from Hong Kong to the Caribbean and the M.O.D

Yes, when I was there having a look round they did tell me its a bit expensive. They also told me not to get it as its noisy and not great for on road use. (The main guy there was a pupil of mine a long time ago lol.)
You mean the AP kits are noisy ? I know AP are generally focussed on Motorsport and not road performance products, so i guess that would make sense.

To be honest i have never heard of Nutexa and i have been looking around for a while and never seen anything advertised for their products.

8 pot is massive overkill in my opinion and with the Brembo kit i was told these specific calipers and Discs are actually made in Italy, where are most of the other calipers on the market come out of factories in Asia that produce cheap products for multiple brands, just with a different name on it. At least with Brembo you know the quality is there.

One other feature that i really like with the Brembo kit is that they are monobloc, meaning each caliper is machined from a single piece of aluminium, where as the other calipers all tend to be two caliper half's bolted together and the bolts often make the calipers looks quite ugly. The Brembo option is nice and clean looking with no bolts.

You've got to admit it does look pretty damn good, better in Brembo red !!

And the Brembo logo and groove pattern on the disc, just look :grin bounce:

These were the display one's that they had at Goodwood.

Sorry, just seen this. Yes, they did say the AP kits are very noisy, as they are race orientated.

I am not sure that Brembo are still made in Italy, I didnt ask that.

But the guys I know recommended the Aston market ones, that are made by Brembo and are the same as the Audi ones (except cheaper, surprisingly)

Most Bembo caliper production is in China. They even have their own in house foundry for casting the raw billet and can directly control the material composition so they don't mess about.

Some stuff is made India, Italy and even Sweden, but like so many things these days the bulk is Chinese manufactured.

I think AP are still British made, but could be out of date.
