Am looking to fit a c section awning rail under my t6 roof bars. Can’t find one in black. Has anybody had one powder coat? Does the connection kit still slide through it easily enough.

I had a silver rail and just sprayed it black with a rattle can after rubbing with scotchbrite and then wiping down with degreaser/solvent.
Has the paint lasted ?
The etch primer will bond to the aluminium better. Prep the rail as @Fluff34567 described, prime it with etch primer and then spray it any colour you like.

Camper essentials do one that fits under roof bars. I purchased one from them and had it powder coated. There is a thread some whereabouts on here if you use the search facility. This shows the best way to install without leaks

I found it slides through very easily. The feed end is angled, [not cut square]

van-x, california style one looks and works much better.. £125 ish, plus postage. needs a bit of manipulating to get it to fit, and is bonded not bolted on. far superior and not damaging to your awning as its all rounded edges: Van-X | Awning Rails VW T5, T5.1 & T6 California style
I’m in the same boat, I really don’t want to be drilling holes but would definitely prefer a black rail
No holes need drilling with the one I posted, and it sits so low hardly noticeable if interested can find the listing

If you are not capable of doing this then get your local converter to do it instead, anyone competent on a van which has been converted to a decent standard should be capable of doing this within an hour.

Yep been absolutely fine, about 5 very thin coats then a final coat .
