Hi all

Looking for camper van insurance for the first time and would like people's opinion on this

Adria flux £1500
Just camper £1300
Howden £1000
LV £550

How is LV so cheep the other companies I rung questioned this price

They said it would be insured as a VW camper and would have an agreed value of the full price of the van and conversion for the 1st year

Has anybody got insurance with LV for a fully converted camper van

Is this to good to be true

Thank

Seems to cheap compared to the others.

They must have entered some data incorrectly?

You’re getting the almost the same figures I get. I’ve been with LV a couple of years now (was Aviva before then) as none of the ‘specialists’ get close.

I did my data inputting online and ticked the options for van converted to camper and included the gas etc so one would assume it’s fully covered. I think the others are just a rip off. I know plenty on here swear by them so assume they get better prices than we do for some reason? I have max no claims (never had an at fault accident in 30 years). Still goes up every year but LV have always remained the cheapest of the known brands for me.

Only thing I am worried about is after the 2nd year it's based on market value and know if it gets stolen I will not see anywhere what I paid

But is that just the same for everyone on across the board

I would go with it, at least for the first year, you can get agreed valuation with other insurers after that if necessary.
Some people take the risk without AV at all.
I’ve got a multi policy with LV which my camper is on as well as our car….that came in at around £650 in January so that’s probably about right.

As Ricardo says just go for someone that offers AV at the next renewal, if that’s what you’re after.

That way you’ve saved a chunk of money this year you can put towards next years premium.

I’m a bit of a cynic and think they’ll try their best to get out of paying AV, or at very least make it a hassle. I know folk will tell me it’s all baked in, it’s a contract etc. but there are far too many articles demonstrating where this industry shys away from paying out or lands a customer with extra costs elsewhere.
When an uninsured driver drove into our parked van a long time ago (and wrote it off) I was offered market value, as per the policy, but showed them photographs, receipts, service history and lots of adverts for second hand similar vans and got a settlement I was actually very happy with.
