Just picked kids up from school and son says this was by the back doors of the van where I always park at home, it looks kind of automotive but I wouldn’t put it past him to be winding me up and he just found it somewhere ( claims not though) so if anyone has come across one of these things and knows what it is/for that would be great!

Pretty sures that's a flange retaining gubbin.

Or part of the handbrake spring assembly.

Thanks for the reply’s , handbrake feels fine and is holding so hopefully it can wait until Friday for a replacement part

It didn't seem to make any difference to my handbrake when mine fell off.
