Can the passenger swivel seat base be moved to the front seats?

Hi all,

We bought a 2017 T6 Kombi 70 sight unseen (they are quite rare here) and had it freighted to me.

We really love it except that I expected the front seats to swivel.

Because they do not swivel we lose a lot of space in the centre of the van. This is not ideal for our plan to drive this around Australia.

The passenger seats do swivel, but we plan to take these out.

My question is whether it's possible to remove the swivel base from the rear passenger seats and move these into the front seats, so we can swivel the fronts.

Has anyone done this or know if it's possible without any major modifications?

Cheers

Hi,

Upfront I don't know.

But looking at the literature online for the Kombi 70 the two rear passenger seats look very similar if not identical to the front seats so I would be surprised if the swivels cannot be swapped; your local VW service could advise.

If they can't be swapped then Reimo here in Australia sell the Sportscraft swivel base. I bought one in February for $499 and fitted it to my T6 front passenger seat. The handbrake can get in the way of the drivers seat swiveling but I think a kit is available to fix it. Talk to Reimo, I found them to be very helpful.

Cheers

Brian
