Can we cut this metalic plate on rear side?

Sorry I don’t know the name of this metalic piece, I took the picture to identify it:



I would like to remove it to have more space for the bed ! Is this a mandatory part or is it possible to remove it safely ?

Just out of curiosity how does cutting it out make more room for a bed surely the bit above is in the way as well

If it was just a flap to hold the interior panel it wouldn’t have the groove down the right. That triangular groove gives it vertical strength, which could possibly be just to stop it flapping…, but still VW put it there for a reason. I’d be dubious about taking it out.

As this space comes as the same height of the matress and then it would give extra centimers on the bed sides at body level

That piece can be removed it’s usually for attaching interior trim such as a shuttle or caravelle, non structural
