So bought a 19plate van from a main dealer unseen, it’s got this heater thing in the back can anyone tell me exactly how it works and what it’s for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
How much would this have cost as a optional extra.

Thanks

3 zone climatronic option. It has heater and cooler.

I have heat and air con in the rear on my kombi., think it was about £900 extra option when i had mine built.

Think you can order just a heater or both, if i remember right when i ordered mine

The dealer originally told me it was a parking heater just like a California. I’ve been having dreams of camping in the snowy mountains with my “parking heater” on. just read the thread post above and it looks like that’s not happing any time soon.
Tha van I’ve bought is a startline 150dsg with twin side doors and a glazed tailgate Pretty crazy spec. Found out after I had paid the deposit it had this heater in the back. Who orders a rear hvac unit in a startline panel van lol

I’ve recently purchased a 9 seat startline window van and it has the aux heating in the rear. The kids appreciate it! It has its own temp control and fan speed. Not tested whether its linked to the air con yet.

Has yours got a matching plastic panel the other side or the normal chipboard panel?

Not sure I've not seen the van yet, I assume its just got the plastic trim panel on the one side

I think dealers have to order startlines as demonstrators and tick a few random option boxes on the order form.

Mine is a startline with windows all round, air con, parking, 9 seats and aux heating in the back. It had been in the dealer network a while, only had 600 miles on it and a hefty discount. Apart from barn doors perfect spec for us!

Any ideas how to remove the rear heater panels as I am trying to instal sound proofing and insulation?

Did you remove the panels DougieF? I will have this rear heater in a new van when it arrives in December. I want the conversion company to install a flat out bed on the offside, but I’m being told that this heater will present a problem with this!...... Got carried away on the options list......Oops!
If you have removed the trim panels surrounding this heater, I would be really grateful if you could post some photos???

Hi, removed these a while back but didn’t take any pictures, however, I have taken some in the order of removal. The small one at the rear pulls off from the bottom. The bigger one is held with clips and also pulls off with some effort. The long one the goes from rear towards the front is held with a screw at the front then pulls out of retaining slots by pulling towards the front of the van. The last vertical duct also slips in and is the easiest to remove.

Yeah you need to leave the big plastic cover in to hide all the heater gubbins. It’s quite a big unit that sits down the back by the wheel arch. Looks a bit of a mess without it. If it’s a full ac unit you have then it will have pipes going up the pillars and along the roof etc much more difficult to do conversions with that lot in. Mine didn’t have this it was just the blower unit.

Oh!..... Heck!
My plan was to put a narrow unit on the offside with a single burner Wallas Hob/heater and small sink.
On the drivers side, I was planning to put a fold down bed but it looks like the frame of the bed won’t be able to fit around this heater based on marmite monster’s useful photo! (Extendy For SWB Kombi & Crew | Flatout Camper Beds)
Oh heck....... any ideas anyone?

Does anyone know if hot air just comes out of the front vent with the rear vent simply being the air inlet? Is this assumption is correct I wondered if a unit could be built around the heater box So long as it had some vents? This could leave the front vent eposed to provide hot air?

Yeah it just sucks from the floor and blows out the front

i removed mine along with all the rear aircon pipes, I don't need it and want to put units in.

Look at the stickers on the drivers door look for webasto or erbesbacher then you know if it's a parking heater
