i know this may sound stupid, but im new to Transporters and hopefully picking my T6 up this weekend.

its got the normal drivers seat and the two seater next to it, i drove a single seater ( drivers and single passenger ) and i liked it and want to do the same to mine. Question is, what makes it a captain seat? the fact that it spins round, or the fact it has arm rests? sorry for sounding dumb, but i just want to know what to look for to convert mine to 2x singles. do i need to change the drivers seats or do you just change the passenger? help and pictures appreciated.

many thanks

Hi and welcome, you will need to purchase a single passenger seat, most are advertised as single captain chairs and will normally have armrests (but not all)
You will be left with holes in the rubber mat where your 2 seater bolts were, you will also need to grind off the bolts sticking up. Most people will replace the floor rubber with a new one, rather than having holes in the floor.

Single captain passenger seats are very rare añd are very expensive. Your double passenger seat has little second hand value as there is no market for them. Look to factor around £1000.00 for a single seat and floor rubber.

Best of luck

I just unscrewed the two bolts left from taking the double seat out, no grinding required

Some options for the seats are factory swivel (no height adjustment), seated heats, armrests as mentioned already and I think there may be a comfort option but maybe all the single passenger seats are comfort. I guess you will probably want to match the one you already have to avoid needing to replace both unless you are looking to upgrade to leather at the same time. eBay has many options but as already mentioned it is expensive to lose a seat but it does give great access from the cab to the back

I added 2 arm rests on the passenger single seat I bought - £155 new for the pair. I got my single seat from Exploria. Be aware there are seat trim differences on the rear of the seat depending on whether is was in a van with a bulkhead or a kombi / shuttle with no bulkhead. The passenger seat I bought has a bit of a gap low level on the back.

I just unscrewed the surplus fixings and put a couple of bungs in.

Its a bit more complicated about the plastic trim on the back. My van was a panel van with 2 single seats the drivrs had arm rests and no gap at the back but the passenger didnt have armrests and has the gap in the plastics.

Hmm Maybe the rule is arm rest seats get the full plastics whatever the van?
