I finally upgraded from standard 17” Cascavels to staggered 20” Velare VL11’s. The offset and size seemed ok however when the sliding doors open they move inwards about 1cm before they come to a stop. This meant that the tyres and door panel touched at the open resting point.

Whilst there is a bit of give by adjusting the lower arm it wasn’t enough to clear the tyre. Ordinary its not a big deal until you happened to get mud on your tyre wall and then this would get transferred to your door cards.

So, off with the door cards and I decide to ‘trim down’ the lower edge of the card thus gaining the approx 1cm I needed. This was easily achieved since there is plenty of ‘air’ between the door card and door skin.

This involved carefully ‘dremeling’ the lower lip taking it back ~1cm without damaging the outer vinyl and then reforming and gluing back in place.

Once this was done I then cut down the fixing posts to reduce the length ensuring the fixing would pull the door card in tighter/closer.

Re fixed the door cards and bobs your mothers brother, no more tyre scuffing when the doors are opened.

Because I trimmed and re glued the vinyl you wouldn’t notice the change in thickness and everything looks standard.

I’m pleased with the results. Hope this may be useful for anyone in the same boat.
