Carpet Lining On Panels & Fasteners

I'm going to attempt to carpet line the panels in the rear of my Kombi - on sliding doors etc.

Before I start do I need slightly longer fasteners to put it back on because of the slightly extra thickness when the carpet is stuck on?

If so, where's best to buy a big box of longer push fasteners?

Alternatively you can use "invisible fasteners" under the carpet lining. They have a flatter head. You put them in first and then stick the carpet over them. I got mine from Harrisons. We did the van during the first lockdown and they're still firmly secured to all panels including the tailgate.

That's a good idea. Are they more difficult to get the panels off again after if you need to once pushed onto the van?

I haven't tried to take a panel off. You can't see where the clips are but you can feel them if you run your finger along. I would then ease a trim tool in and lever close to the clip as if taking a standard panel off.
