CarPlay and Global radio app

Good afternoon all

I am having some issues with HER caravelle

So set up all of the CarPlay etc and it seems to be working fine

She has on her phone apps from global player, heart and LBC

All of the apps show on her CarPlay but whenever she clicks on one they whirl about for a bit then say unable to connect

If she opens her phone and then clicks them on her phone screen they play correctly through the CarPlay

Any ideas please? any suggestions? its bewildering as surely they ought to just be clicked on the vw screen and play through her phone?

That occasionally happens with me on CarPlay, both on the Audis own system and the same on my aftermarket unit in the van when using that app for LBC, so its not just your unit.

@Nige_g thanks for that, made me feel a bit better although its never worked correctly in her caravelle

I am concerned her unit may have an issue as it drops in and out of DAB stations so frequently its ridiculous

Thinking to get it in to vw for a check up as it shouldn't be that bad

I play radio stations through the native Apple Music app and find its better than, say, TuneIn

I think it was previously called iTunes, but this one.

@Andyman - My LBC app has started doing this, too. It coincided exactly when the phone updated to iOS 15, so I'm guessing it's something to do with the LBC app no longer playing nicely with the updated iOS/CarPlay.

Happens in my VW and my Land Rover.

I get around it by opening the app, getting LBC playing and then plugging in the phone. CarPlay then recognises LBC and I can use it normally (fast forward through the ads etc).

Hi all….that’s interesting prior to Apple upgrade (15) my radio (via Kenwood) had played up since the Tv band widths changed due to 5g …DAB is no longer clear and suffers what I can only describe as feed back …even considering a roof mounted fin..I’ve checked the usual..starting to see why the T6.1 has that bump on the roof
Carplay is slow and often have to use settings to push connection….years Back head units all gave Apple compatibility details…now it’s all blame each other and call it …Software

@Deaston sorry for delay

I gave up VW wouldn’t entertain it, they said under warranty but that doesn’t include radio, if the unit was broken they’d replace but no obvious issues so not interested

I’ve now got my iPhone 13pro max set up with a wireless car play adaptor, a spigen MagSafe holder and a apple MagSafe charger, as soon as I turn on the CarPlay finds the phone and I either hit LBC on my iPhone Home Screen or the global player app on the CarPlay just kicks in and plays, depending on what I last used on my car play, normally the global app because I don’t use Waze very much and Alexa Is now functioning on her own device lol
