Changing sliding door lock

Don't know if this is electrics, bodywork or interior? Anyway I've been getting on with next stage in getting my van deadlocking which is replacing the sliding door lock (well technically the remote release mechanism). The Haynes instructions are reasonably clear, though "then swivel the mechanism out" took 40 mins and most of the skin on my knuckles. Anyway with it all out I put the 2 mechanisms side by side and noticed some issues.

The 'new' replacement is on the right and has a couple of bits missing from the unit I've removed. The one circled in blue I'm presuming, from the way it seems to work, is the childlock? Mine doesn't have the access hole for one so if it is I can just ignore it. More worrying though is the area circled in red that has an extra cable connection that operates at the same time as the unlock cable that goes to the lock itself, which mine does have. What does this extra cable operate? Is it something to do with deadlocking? My existing unit has the nipple for it but no cable was connected.

Well I still don't know the answer to what the 2nd cable is for, but I removed it and fitted the unit in the door and it all works. A fiddly job but straightforward enough. Only hitch was that the electrical connection was female on the existing unit and male on the replacement so I had to cut the connections and swap them over, thankfully the wiring colours were the same. If I ever did want to implement the childlock, I can reach it by taking out the electrical contacts on the front of the sliding door and reaching behind.

I'm still interested to know what the extra cable was for but I have a theory - is it used to release the door catch by the remote electric door closer/opener?

How did you remove it?? Mine given up the ghost so I need to collect one from the stealers for £156….. however not a clue on how to remove it
