Chinese Night Heater With Adblue

I have just ordered one of those 2kW Chinese night heaters off the bay for my 2018 T6 panel van camper conversion. If it all turns up correct and a dummy set up in the garage proves successful I will be fitting it to my van.

Okay now this may be a really silly question but I am prepared,

1. Does the Adblue mix with the diesel in the tank and if so will the mixture still work with the heater?

2. Thoughts on fitting the separate tank in the rear above / near the jack or tap directly into the main tank?

3. General thoughts on these cheap heaters, anyone fitted one?

Cheers Guys and Gals

Adblue doesn't mix with fuel in the diesel tank. It gets injected into the exhaust system to reduce NOx levels.

Thanks for that, presumably a separate tank then too or is it incorporated in the main tank? I ask because I'm considering dropping the main tank and fitting a fuel tank stand pipe into the float unit,

It's a seperate adblue tank. Does your van have an auxiliary coolant heater under the floor of the front passenger seat. If so you can take a feed for your heater fuel supply from here.

Its a 150 2018 DSG Highline Panel Van with A/C, i fitted the leisure battery under the passenger seat, or would it be under the van seating floor?

Auxiliary coolant heater is mounted under the floor. You'll have sticker on the door skin or B pillar if you have one factory fitted.

It's designed to heat the coolant up quicker when the ambient temperature is below 5 degrees. Think in the UK it's generally only fitted to the people carriers so that the cabin heats up quicker. Not sure if it's an option in the UK on panel vans though. Somebody can keep me right if that's not correct though.

Let us know how it turns out, just did a search and they are cheap!! if its good I will get one for my van. I cant really justify the webesto price because we don't use the van to go away in during the winter. That said the day trips with a little heat in the back would be very nice.

Go to the LT and Crafter section on the T5 forum and search for Hoovie, he fitted one of these and has done a write up on all the mods he needed to make to it to get it running satisfactorily.

I have just fitted a standpipe in my tank yesterday for my heater. Did it on the floor with the left side on ramps. It’s not a bad job and plenty of information about it if you search. There is a FB group for help and support for those Chinese heaters and some seem to have a lot of problems with them. Also most of the ones advertised as 2kw are in fact 5kw re-badged. The 5kw are a bigger case size than the 2kw.
There is a bracket available off eBay to fit the heater under the floor on the drivers side like VW fit the original.
This post may give you some more information.
