Close Proximity On Satnav

Hi all,

Has anyone else had a problem with their SatNav on their T6?

Our has a close proximity sensor which shows a few extra buttons if you swipe your hand near the screen but for some reason, its stopped working.

I have gone into setting and clicked the function but its still not working.

And advice other than taking it back to VW would be appreciated.

Cheers
Mark

That’s a new one, can I suggest you try a re-boot as mine once went a bit ‘odd’ and that fixed it. From memory you just press and hold the on/off button.

Yes hold the power button for around 30 secs and it will restart

Hi PeakyBlinder,
Just looking at your issue with the sat nav proximity sensor which you experienced in April 2018. I have exactly the same problem and have tried the reboot but to no avail, I've checked that the relevant box is ticked in the settings menu and am now at a loss. I really don't want to spend even more time at the dealers if it can be sorted at home! Strangely the problem only showed up after leaving the dealers having had a service.
Did you manage to get yours fixed?
Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave,
Sorry for the late reply but I was away.
Unfortunately, we never did get it fixed we just live with the problem. Rebooting it didn't work.
VW offered to put a new SatNav in but wanted the van for a few days.

Cheers

It can't take more than half a day to change the unit and re-code it and even then there should be enough time to do a full valet for you!

I'm a DIY owner and can take the radio out and in in less that 20 minutes so a 'skilled (?)' technician should be able to do it just as quick.

You can use your phones camera to see if the infra red leds are working..

The radio uses the invisible reflection to detect your hand...

It's easier to see at night..... but here's a shielded day shot....

If the dealer looks into fitting a new unit do you think the fact that an aftermarket reversing camera was fitted ( at least 2 years ago will void any warranty?)

Can't see how that will affect the warranty.
