I dont usually post this kind of thread, but I cant seem to make a decision on this.

I am planning on covering the OEM roof boards up with some suede liner.

My original thoughts were blue. However I got the front chrome strip wrapped in orange, and it made me think about an orange ceiling. However I have been told it will be bright and not a restful colour for sleeping and I should go for the purple  . Now Im wondering it it matters that the outside accents are different to the inside o_O .

For reference these are all the colour swatches that arrived:

I put a few in the van (but the colours dont seem to have photographed well):
Light blue; stone; grey; dark blue; orange; purple.

Any thoughts more than welcome. Thanks

I like the idea of the orange ceiling to match the exterior orange detailing. As for not being a restful colour when sleeping, you'll have your eyes closed, so you won't be able to see it! ;) :slow rofl:

you could always go grey to keep it light and fresh, a dark roof may make it feel dark and small. you could always do the cover strips in the orange to tie in with the front accent.

or get some orange seatbelts, gator trim, wheel trim etc. the whole ceiling might be a bit much but its all personal preference!

Personally, I think it would look horrible but yours is the only opinion that really matters. Just ask yourself would you paint your bedroom ceiling orange?

It's a campervan not a bedroom they look good bright and cheerful or dark and atmospheric .who wants magnolia and white ceilings that's a bedroom.

The other half picked the Stone. I had to say no lol.

Thanks for the opinions so far. This is why I dont usually bother with this kind of thread, there never seems to be a consensus. However no one seems to say put blue with orange outside. Hmmm does it matter if inside and outside dont match?

Stone= bit conservative another name for beige! Don't think it has to be same inside as out but still think orange would look cool.
Agree about the stone, now Im wondering, 3m of material at £50 if I dont like it. However wonder if it would ruin the boards when I pulled it off to replace with blue or grey

Would it really need to be removed? Don't see why you couldn't leave a layer on and go over the top of it.

Dont think it matters if it doesnt match, i doubt you will be able to see both at the same time. That is unless you do it orange in which case you will see it from miles away :think smile bounce:

If it's the foam and scrim backed stuff from Harrisons, you can usually get it off without damaging the boards. You'll just be left with the old adhesive on the board, but that's no problem to cover over. If it's foam backed, but without the scrim like some of the eBay stuff, it can often leave the foam behind when you pull it off, which will ruin the finish of whatever you apply over the top.

Or as has been said, just go over the top of the first colour with the other colour. You'll have double thickness foam and a properly luxurious ceiling then!

My take would be that it's a campervan that is also a bedroom hence my comment. As I said earlier, the only opinion that matters on this is that of Skyliner33 and if he wants to sleep in a throwback from the 1960s then it's up to him. Mind you, even then they had the good taste to keep the orange to the walls, floors and furniture rather than the ceiling.

Maybe go Stone and add Orange in smaller panel areas like near the rear seat belts sections

Or all Stone and get the carpets edge in orange ;)

I have been thinking about this. I have bought a slide out bed from van style to use until I get the full conversion.
Im now edging to the grey roof. Just using orange accents for the tiny panels behind the slider and opposite on the walls. Then get some orange accents on the seat pads / mattress for the bed.

I really like the idea of orange on the roof - it ties in the colour from outside so you have the consistency flowing through and it looks a bit funkier. You'd probably need to think about any further orange extras to stop it being OTT, but I think it will look ace waking up on sunny morning to that - a good mood lifter and a good start to the day!
