Common Sources of rattles

Hi all,

My Kombi has some interior rattles. Not the 'something is loose like a connector' but more a general rattle over bumps etc. I suspect the interior panels which were carpeted (poorly in some places) before i got it. They used the original hardboard panels rather than getting some ply and carpeting that. makes me wonder if the clips are too short with the added carpet.

Question is how have the more experienced owners solved the noises.

I indend doing a better job of sound deadining and trying to solve the rattles at the same time.

Couple common ones are front seat armrests and wiper bungs in the scuttle (where the wipers would be if it was LHD)

Occupant of passenger seat but no solution found yet although I have tried WD-40 and lots of other lubes!
