Composition colour upgrade

Hi,

Does anybody know if I am able to swapout my composition colour for a composition media unit. Will this work or cause issues, on the face of it seems a simple switch however I am aware this may not be the case, has anyone done this?

Nick

A word of caution, you can swap out any headunit for a new one but it needs to be a NEW one as in not fitted to any vehicle before yours and these are expensive
I have been told you cannot fit a unit from another vehicle as it will not work properly, it will appear to work on initial power up and will continue to work for 10 ignition cycles then the bluetooth/app connect/media bits etc will cease to function and there is nothing that can be done to restore them.
I wont bore you with the details but even getting a dealer to disable component protection will make no difference as the units are coded (VIN matched) to the vehicle and as of yet i havent heard of a way around this, i have heard of dealers and techs that have tried and failed

@Pauly, many thanks for the heads up! Good security feature, as long as you can get it recoded by dealer, otherwise a lot of recycling fodder! I can see Ebay sellers getting a lot of returns & negative feedback

Thats the point, you cant get it recoded by a dealer, once removed its full functionality is gone unless refitted to original vehicle
Im sure a solution will be found at some point but havent heard anything yet

A friend of mine who works for Autoglass and goes out to replace windows told me they are seeing a lot of thefts of the consoles from VW's, most probably ending up on Ebay...
