Connecting and disconnecting your van from 240 hookup

I have a questio: is this the correct way to connect and disconnect your van from 240v hookup?

To connect: switch the electrics in the van to OFF - connect the cable to the van and then Connect the cable to the 240v exter power source : switch the power source on and then switch the van back on
To disconnect: switch the van OFF - switch the power source OFF and unplug both ends.

I’ve always followed the rather simplified procedure of sticking the plug in to connect and pulling it out again to disconnect...

If it’s pissing down with rain get somebody else to do it and disconnect from the outlet first just in case there is a cable fault.
If in doubt touch the cable with the back of the hand first, never the palm.
