Meet BANKSY - There is always "Hope"
T6 Guru
The Company who currently are going to convert my van to a day van have slipped their deadline by 4 weeks.
I am losing patience and looking at going somewhere else.
Work is going to be:
-Double bed. 3rd row seating folds down and frame in boot for fill width double bed.
-Leisure battery
-Kitchen pod including Fridge, 2 Ring Cooker.
-New floor
-Swivel pax seats

Would appreciate any recommendations where any of you have used a company. I live Stamford Lincs so quite central.
Any help please let me know.

I will refrain from naming the Company at this moment as I know they are trying hard but failing to deliver.
Many thanks Bluey!

It’s mighty frustrating mate and I feel your pain. You will of obviously done your research and chosen said company for a reason. Don’t compromise your conversion and jump ship to someone else then regret it for the rest of the time you own your van. I did exactly this last time. :(

No experience of conversion companies myself but going by the majority of comments on here all the good ones tend to have reasonable waiting lists, think you could be waiting longer than 4 weeks for an available slot if you choose to go elsewhere

Thanks Deaky, I totally understand what you say about jumping ship and sorry things didn't work out for you. The more I read on here - I am considering doing some of the conversion myself and bringing in specialists to do the bits I can't do e.g. electrics etc.

As I have the LWB I can construct a semi permanent bed and still have 6 seats for daytime use.... seeing the Kitchen pods you can buys etc, I do not plan to have a pop up this summer ..... so that can wait.

I am going to work through my options over the weekend. Have a good Easter Deaky and thanks again!

Your build has similarities to the one I have out with conversion companies at the moment, I'm asking for quotes with and without a kitchen pod but that the area where the pod would sit has socketery for 12v/230v/usb.

To start with I intend using a folding Vango Gastro Kitchen and small gas & halogen hob depending if we are on EHU or not, if we find it works we've saved about £800 on the cost of a pod plus it can be moved into an awning or removed to give more interior area when not camping, if not we can have pod retro fitted.

We'll use a portable 12v/230v camping fridge which will fit under the bed during the night.

The two who are most likely to be in the running for my money have waiting lists of 4-6 months, they are both in West Yorkshire so a couple of hours from you.

If you want I'll PM their details, (if I can fathom that out) I've either visited or met a dozen or so convertors and there are some real BS merchants out there.

Hi thanks for the additional details etc ..... could you tell me where you're getting your folding kitchen from - i like your thinking on this!?
On the Camping Fridge - is that similar to one of those you can get from Halford .... or something better? Again any supplier / price would be good please.
Really appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge ... it really does help move things forward. Thanks again and look forward to hearing from you, regards Paul

The camping fridge is a couple of steps up from the fan coolers Halfords sell, this video explains it well, it's totally silent and multi fuel capable, Dometic RC1200.

The Vango folding kitchen is available direct from Vango at the RRP or discounted from other suppliers.

Vango Gastro Kitchen Unit | Leisure Outlet

For our needs a removable kitchen and fridge means the vehicle becomes truly multi purpose, depending on where you are you can cook and cool with
12v, electric hook up or gas, have cooking and cooling in an driveaway awning on a site or when you aren't camping take them out, put them in the garage and use
the vehicle as a van/shuttle. Having spent a year planning what we thought we wanted this removable set up, at least to start with seems to make sense for our needs.

If you do intend buying items like the fridge/kitchen etc then attending one of the Caravan/Camper/Motorhome shows at Birmingham is a must, prices are
often heavily discounted there.

Hi and many thanks for such a comprehensive reply - I really do appreciate the tip and I love that fridge! It looks really good and exactly the sort of thing I am looking for. Will let you know as things progress and I hope your camper continues to develop. Let's stay in touch and keep each other informed. Happy Easter, Paul

Just to give an update, I have had a good catch up meeting with the Campervan Companyand they promising the part fitout on my Shuttle can me completed in 4 days... so currently I am giving them one last chance to fulfil my requirements below - this now planned in for last week of April.
Work is going to be: -Double bed. 3rd row seating folds down and frame in boot for fill width double bed. -Leisure battery -Kitchen pod including Fridge, 2 Ring Cooker-New floor, -Swivel pax seats!

Fingers crossed they are able to make this deadline, I will keep you all informed. Can I just say a massive THANK YOU to: @Carbon13 @Pauly, @Deaky who have provided some brilliant advice. Loving the T6 Forum - everyone is helpful .... I owe these guys an Easter Egg/ Beer! Happy Easter Bluey!

From my limited experience of conversion companies.

I get the feeling they are mostly small man teams where the owner is generally a fitter as well, which means future and current work planning is often on the back foot compared to whats in shop right now.

Fingers crossed for you Bluey, the waiting is the worst part :)

You're so right .... and thanks! Everything crossed here!;) Roll on the summer:smile bounce:

Well surprise surprise the Conversion Compay cannot "guarantee" the delivery date of the finished van. They say it is outside their control... therefore they have now been "fired". Already found a new company to do the electrics and fit the Leisure Battery etc. And I will be doing most of the other stuff. Thanks again to @Carbon13 @Generaljake @Deaky @Pauly ... will share photos as we go!

Hi, I've ordered a new T6.1 panel van that should arrive in March next year, now need to sort a company to do a full camper conversion.
Has anyone got recommendations for reliable, good quality companies in the North East? Thank you.

Restore & More NE (DH2 1AG) did our T6.1 - absolutely stunning job, top quality, highly recommended.

Can highly recommend NorthShore Custom Conversions based in Stanley. Fantastic attention to detail and design, really approachable guys too.
