Cost of bonnet respray

Hello all,

Giving the van some TLC today.

Noticed the bonnet protector thing has caused some damage to bonnet.

Considering options.

Anyone know how much I should look ball park for a bonnet respray?

Not sure can fork out for a PPF for front end so my plan was helicopter tape post respray and reattach plastic protector thing.

Await considered thoughts.

How bad is the damage? Might find that a good machine polish gets most of it out, assuming it’s not worked all the way through the clear coat, worth a shot before the more expensive option of a respray. No idea on cost but a wild stab in the dark, probs north of £400.

Edit: just my opinion but I wouldn’t be putting the bonnet protector (ironic name) after any corrective work, if it has caused substantial damage in the first place.

Eeek.

I’ll investigate further tomorrow. I think the little suction cup things have caused some wear though. Another vote for NOT using bonnet deflector I guess

Hopefully it’s not too bad Chris, fingers crossed for you. Keep us posted and upload some pics if you get chance

Investigated this further. The damage i could see from peering behind was the funny mess of failed stickers.

That’s very helpful on the bank balance.

So my plan is to clean up and polish post mess removal.

Get some helicopter tape strips down (either across whole lip of bonnet or in vertical strips where clips/ rubber nipple things go, any thoughts?)

And then refit bonnet deflector.

That will do me within budget!

That’s good news. Unless you’re pretty handy with the PPF you may find it difficult to neatly follow the 3D contours of the bonnet with a single piece. Small patches at the contact points would be easier.

Perfect! That was my thoughts too
