Hi, does anyone made cushions for his camper conversion? I wondering what are the cost to made them somwhere else instead order with my bed from vanfurniture. If anyone have some experience and let me know the cost I will ge grateful. Thank You

I have the van furniture kombi units. I made mine using foam from GB foam direct and covers made to measure from foam superstore. Worth having a play on the foam superstore website to see what the costs would be.

This was the foam for one of the cushions, nice and firm still after 4 years

I went to a local upholstery business and we did the dimensions and he supplied the foam and made the covers using the golf gti type material that I supplied to him and grey pvc (I mean vegan leather ) that he provided.
Did a great job and they have lasted very well over the last 3 1/2 years.

We had a u shape van furniture kit , but had our cushions made by a caravan/ motorhome upholstery company as I changed the layout to a L shape, this enabled us to go for a slightly firmer 75mm thick foam, instead of the VF 100 mm, giving us a little more headroom when the roof is down. we could then also use our choice of fabrics.
We use our 50mm Duvalay mattress topper on top of the cushions anyway, when sleeping downstairs, super comfy.
I think they were about £600 for the 4 cushions, we had a piping round the edges in a different colour.

I'm toying with the idea of building a u-shaped unit in the back of my lwb - I'd want to put cushions on the seat which would convert into the bed

My question is this - I need a good mattress as getting a good night's kip is essential to me, normally when you're buying a bed you can lie on it and see how it suits, but buying foam which will be made to order potentially feels a bit hit and miss

Anyone got any ideas how you test foam for comfort before you commit to an order?
