Damn Steering Wheel

It’s just a case of hunting around to find a decent wheel that fits your needs at the right price
Some people want flat bottom others flappy paddles so you just need to keeping looking until you find what you are after
Just remember only T6 buttons/loom will work in a T6 most people already have mfsw so they buy the style wheel they want and swap their buttons/wiring into it, as you have nothing then buying a wheel from a different model will be no good as the buttons won’t work
If you get stuck on wiring I can help out with the airbag loom and/or the two additional cables into the dash
I’m stuck‍♂️

Hi @Pauly vagnostics have sent me this email about soldering the MFSW loom to something! I thought it just clipped in?

From memory, when I did mine on my old T5, I had to splice 3 repair wires. One to a constant +12v and the other two were connected to the linbus wires at the BCM. If you google it there was a guide to fitting one in a polo and I used that. I don't know if it was the same on a T6 though.

i found this guide - @Deaky does this sound right? I think vagnostics talk about 2 wires..

Yes that looks exactly what I did on my T5. I don't know if it's the same on T6 though.

Hi all,
I have exactly the same set up as @scotia. T6 Euro 6 Trendline with cruise on the stalk and no MFSW.
I’m thinking I need a wheel like this

This is off a Polo but appears to have the same buttons as the wheel I had on a Euro 5 T6 without the ACC buttons as that also had cruise on the stalk. Will my original airbag fit this? Also what loom would I need to get the buttons to work? 3C8 971 584F?
Any help very welcome.
Thanks

No, your airbag won’t fit that wheel. You need one with hooks either side for your airbag to clip onto.

Thank you @Deaky, I knew the knowledge would be on here.
Are my thoughts on the buttons correct? Ie no cruise on wheel as mines on the stalk.
Thanks

Hi @Deaky Do you reckon that i could re-use my airbag on my cheapo wheel with one i find on ebay if it has the same shape and has these clips like above? is it that easy?! the one i have found on ebay comes with the right buttons.. so it'd have the mf loom..

ok thanks @Deaky for that.

i wouldnt need to change the module would i?

i'd just need the wheel with buttons, airbag loom and repair wires?

@Deaky - wondering if you could help.. im not getting much response from vagnostics..! He's sold me a mfsw T6 flat bottom but it looks like the ones that @Thehawks put on the post up there ^^He sold it complete so there is the matching airbag and all seems good with that..

im just wondering with regards to the fitting of it, and the eventual removal etc.. if ever needed. How does one get this style off?! i have seen many descriptions of the two clips 180 deg apart and i understand this.. but this type I've never seen! if you know, please advise!

It’s fairly simple. Remove the plastic cowel from around the steering wheel column. Turn the wheel 90 degrees from straight and with a stubby screwdriver, lever the spring off the hook, turn the wheel 180 and do the same on the other side. The airbag will then be free.

@Deaky isnt that for the steeringwheel/airbag with the two clips? is it the same method for the wheel/airbag without these two clips? I looked at the two parts apart and couldnt see it?!

sorry if im being dim.. - quite possible I've had some beers this afternoon!

Ah sorry mate, didn’t read the post properly. Can’t help I’m afraid. I only have experience of the T6 wheel.

dont no if the garage who are Vw specialist don’t no what there on about or VanNostics don’t no what there on about!

I have a Vw jiggling multifunction steering wheel that I would like fitted so the buttons on the wheel light up when headlights are on and if possible the volume and telephone buttons working as well, pics attached of the loom VanNostics sent me apparently no where for it to attach and the steering wheel with the connecting.

All help welcome
