Hi all

I got annoyed with forgetting to unplug my dash cam on the top ciggy lighter socket and it flattening the battery

If you want a simple install you can take the dome light down the middle wire on the black plug to the light is perfect to power the dash cam + feed I used the bolt that holds the sunglasses case but in for earth and poked the wire out of the gap
In the headliner the camera come on and off with ignition now turns off after short delay so perfect

Or you could just use a piggy back fuse holder into an ignition live on the fuse box, as I have with my dash cam and Sat Nav.
No removal of any trim, and takes a few minutes.

my dash cam switches off automatically ..... can't you change a setting

I found that all the power outlets on my T6 are permanently live, meaning the cams and nav just stay on because they think the vehicle is still running, hence having to find an ignition live.

some devices can react to the rise in voltage associated with the engine running and wake up, I'm sure one of the dash cam vendors sells a little "box" that has a switched output based on this operation..
