Dashboard display and auto headlight not working

Hello all, first post here so hopefully this is ok.
Yesterday when starting my T6 2019 - at night the headlights didn’t automatically come on - just side lights - and this is how
my display looked. I couldn’t read the dials, just these red lines. I manually turned on the headlights and had to guess my speed.
I don’t have the dial to the right of the steering wheel for dashboard brightness. I can’t find anything wrong and am a bit baffled what’s happened. Something weird - a fuse gone or this mysterious day/night sensor failed? Any advice appreciated as same again tonight.
Thanks!

I believe the "needle only" backlighting is normal if the van believes it's only on sidelights:

I would have expected though that if there was a failure/glitch in sensing the light levels then manually turning the headlights on would bring on the full dash illumination?

Have you tried your headlight switch in various positions?

Have you had the windscreen replaced?
