Toying with the idea of fitting a gps enabled cam to the T6 when it comes. Never bothered fitting to my A5 as thought it would have been a distraction on the smaller car windscreen.
Anybody use one and has anyone found them to be a worthwhile addition in an incident?

I have full HD front and rear fitted in mine, not been in an accident with it but if I do it gives me the piece of mind that if its not my fault I can prove it !
Only thing to consider is if you drive like loon and get tugged by the police they can seize it if they want to and use it against you, GPS on mine logs the route and speed etc so they can nail you from it, point is it works both ways.
I have the Thinkware F750 which I'm really please with - F750 | THINKWARE Dash Cam

@Pauly @rover220 where have you taken your power feed from. I am going to get one but was planning on taking in somewhere for them to do unless it's easy enough to fit and look tidy.

My vans been stripped in the past for additional wiring so I concealed all cabling then, my permanent feed comes from 2nd battery setup and ignition feed comes from dash fusebox.
Rear camera cabling runs above roof lining front to back then inside tailgate coming out by rear wash wipe motor

I haven't looked into it too deeply yet, but are there cams available that automatically start recording every time time the engine is started? It would be sod's law, that the one time I relied on footage would be the time I had forgotten to start recording if it was left to me.

Yes, mine does, that why it takes a permanent feed as well as a switched feed, lots of them do. Most cams plug into cig socket and start recording when key goes on but lots of vehicles now the cig socket is permanently live so can be an issue. The unit I bought comes in two flavours, one with a cig socket plug for basic functioning or one with a hardwire kit that enables the parking mode
When the engine goes on it starts recording, when the engine goes off it starts parking mode which records motion and impact, all timings/sensitivities are configurable in the settings and has auto off when battery voltage drops to a set voltage which you can configure

Cool, had a look at the F750, looks fantastic! If I have a spare £200 odd, then I'll seriously consider getting that system.

There are lots of similar units I just decided I wanted front and rear, the other unit I was looking at was called Lukas
I bought mostly based on image quality and clarity

I've run a fused feed from the fuse box up the passenger a pillar then fitted a 12v socket under the headlining and bought the power feed out of the plastic housing around the rain sensor.

I've also removed the mirror on mine as I have a solid bulkhead so can't see the point of having it.

You can get external rear cameras that couple up with the front dashcam, i seen a couple and they generally look a bit boxy like the reverse cameras you see on the rear of big trucks/arctic lorries/rubbish trucks
Will see if i can find one for you

Thanks for the efforts Pauly, I would want something better looking than that though, shame it couldn't work off if the reversing camera but that would be the type of thing I'd want.

Yeah i know what your saying, its a bit industrial looking

Where specifically did you take your switched live from Pauly?
Thanks , Andy

I connected to the lower dash fusebox, the centre of the three rows is ignition live

will the parking mode work if I piggyback on the suggested fuse slots ? just purchased an auto Vox x2 and about to hardwire it..

I’ve got a blackview dashcam in my T6.

Both front and back recording on a 2 Chanel setup, front records in 4K.

Email notifications when in packing mode if you get bumped or someone gets to close, had to turn off motion sensors tho, as to sensitive.

It works off my vans WiFi. Excellent bit of kit, got it wired up with no wires showing and works automatically but pricy tho at £500. (£400 in sales)

The way I see it good investment for my very expensive T6 that others don’t seem to really understand the cost of and see as a van.
