Deciphering a T6 (V5) Model number - Conflicting Information ?

Things never seem to be easy, when it comes to learning exactly what you’re getting ?

I’m looking at buying my first T6 conversion, and I’m trying to make sense of exactly what the model is I’m contemplating; primarily to know (without a shadow of a doubt) that it has a EURO 6 engine so I’m good with ULEZ near by.

The top level details from the V5, which I have a screenshot of, are that is was registered Jan 2018, it’s a LWB, the type = J70, and the variant = GCXGB320X0, the model is = TRANSPORTER T32 T-LN TDI BMT

Now, I understand the T32 part relates to weight, the BMT is Blue Motion Technology, the TDI is Turbo Diesel Injection - and I’m thinking the T-LN relates to Treadline, as I’ve also seen H-LD mentioned too, which I believe is for Highline ?? Is that correct ?

I also found this Honest Joe’s website (https://vans.honestjohn.co.uk/volkswagen/t6-transporter/) which lists loads of different variations, and other online searches seem to provide conflicting information between the engine being a Euro 5 and Euro 6.

Where can I go to get exact/irrefutable confirmation of the exact/full specification of this T6 (conversion) ?

Whack the reg into the TfL vehicle checker which will confirm.

If you had VIP membership you could get the full build sheet via this forum! That would tell you precisely what came out of the VW factory.

It it has an AdBlue filler, it is invariably ULEZ compliant.

This^^^

Thanks, I looked at the details of the VIP membership, it wasn’t exactly clear what you get.

In the end I did a RAC online check, and that seems to conflicts on some of my earlier thoughts too.. I read that 75Kw was a for 102bhp, but RAC say 140, it also says it’s 6 gears., yet it found elsewhere it was 5. It does however tell me it’s EURO 6 - which is good and I checked the reg on the ULEZ site to and that confirms it too.

Still strange I can’t find out for sure..

Are you referring to VIP benefits in general or specifically the build sheet?

The build sheet shows definitively, as it left the factory, the base model of the van, the engine & transmission and all the options that were installed.

102 bhp can be euro 5 and 6 and only 5 gears

140 bhp is the old euro 5 and only available in 6 gears

150bhp is the euro 6 and is 6 gears also

I've just been talking to a seller who has a Shuttle, 65 plate Feb 2016. It doesn't have cruise and the early mfsw.....I could have sworn it would be euro 5 but no, it has adblue so Euro 6.
First 65 plated Euro 6 I've come across

75kW=100.577 HP

If it's a 2018 then odds are it has adblue and euro6. 5 gears means it's the lower engine either 102hp or 110hp. 6 speed and DSG will be 150hp or 204hp. Euro 5 was on the earlier run models upto 66 plate.

If the RAC simply did a VRN look-up, then their report will be wholly reliant on the V5 being correct - not a data source that's 100% reliable. The most reliable source of info will be from the VW factory - i.e. the build sheet.

That’s what I’m thinking and I’m wondering if they charged for the privilege!!!

Have you seen the van ? Does it have 5 or 6 gears ?
As mentioned above check TFL and it'll tell you if it's compliant, reg into DVLA and see what that tells you .

Some answers to some of the earlier questions.

I checked TFL and they say it’s ULEZ compliant
The online RAC check was £14.99 (but I will try to challenge that and ask for refund if wrong)
I’m seeing and test driving the Van around 10:30 am today, so will know the number of gears for sure, the bhp will still be a mystery.

not necessarily if it’s 5 gears then it would be the lesser power as the 150 has the 6 gears.
Hope it goes well:thumbsup:

Thanks @Chippie1

Saw it, drove it, really liked it, and I can confirm it has 5 gears, so that would make it the 102 bhp model then.

Everything on it looks good for a Jan 2018 registration, there is one thing that sounded and looked wierd and that’s a ticking/clicking noise, and a missing bolt on part of the engine ?? Drove like a dream recently services / MOT’d too, so not sure what it is - if it’s anything to be concerned about - but I will post separately for advice on that.

What part of the engine was the missing bolt? Top, front etc??
Diesels have a bit of engine clatter sometimes at low speed but worth checking engine trim etc in case that was the issue. Just banging on the engine etc. What has the seller said about the noise?
