Help :)

I need to disconnect my battery to do some work, but the alarm will scream non stop the moment it is disconnected, i have tried with doors open, car unlocked, key in ignition, turning locks in the doors but nothing helps and my neighbours are not very happy!

Does anyone know how i can totally disable it so I can disconnect the battery for a few hours without it screaming??

Many thanks!

I’m watching this one, as far as I was aware the alarm is powered by the battery?

The little bugger seems to have its own battery backup! I can't beleive VW technicians let the alarm just scream when they need to change a battery, but scouring the web i cannot find nothing, just lots of info about disabling motion sensors - which is not a lot of help :/

Are you sure it’s a VW alarm fitted? All my previous T6 vans where ok to disconnect.
Yeah for sure, its on the original spec sheet, have alarm + SafeLock and backup battery.

I disconnect the battery all the time for various job and the alarm never sounds. You sure there isn't an aftermarket one fitted as well as the factory one

After some digging i have discovvered that in fact it is some aftermarket crap, i don't know who has fitted it or why as it has a factory alarm and imobilser, i also don't know what the hell it is connected to if there isn't some more complex alarm or something - now im going to have to investigate :(

also FWIW . .

i have a few cables that can be used a a "automotive memory saver"

the idea is you back-feed voltage from a different source while you change the battery over.

you need to ensure that the 12v POS cable is insulated and doesnt touch any bodywork.

i have this Draper one. . . that you connect to an external battery and power the car/van via the OBD2 port.

it saves the radio, window, clock, imob, etc etc etc setup.

(but on the T6 its only clock and window pinch that needs resetting)

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunatly, I needed to disconnect an airbag so I had to have the power off - but its sorted now, after market siren has had its power snipped ;)

Thanks ando sorry to confuse, i was sure, but then i discovered some other crap installed, no clue who installed it but seems VW might have added something, as there is some requirement for insurance here. Anyway i decapitated it and all is solved :D
